YouTube workouts is just one part of HIIT Addict. You can also create and follow your own non-video, time-based workouts.
YouTube workouts shouldn’t be a guessing game
YouTube gives you a title and thumbnail, but rarely shows you the structure of the workout. You press play without knowing whether its length, intensity, or difficulty curve is right for you.
The frustrations are familiar. You don’t know how long each effort will last or how many rounds are left. Intensity can ramp up without warning. And because you can’t see the workout ahead of you, it’s hard to pace yourself or get ready for what’s next.
See the full workout before you press play
HIIT Addict pairs curated YouTube videos with a color-coded workout profile that reveals the complete structure before you start. Every timed segment is laid out with its duration and target effort: wider blocks last longer, and taller, warmer-colored blocks mean harder work. As the video plays, a progress indicator runs alongside it so you always know where you are, what’s coming next, and when the workout ends.
One app for all your time-based workouts
Use the same app beyond YouTube for:

- Custom time-based workouts built in the visual editor
- Indoor cycling, including structured smart-trainer workouts with ERG mode
Frequently asked questions
What do the colored blocks mean?
The colored blocks are a visual workout profile. Each block represents one section of the workout. Width shows relative duration; color and height show intensity. Taller, warmer-colored blocks mean harder effort, while shorter, cooler blocks (including gray) mean easier work or rest.
This concept is standard in dedicated cycling platforms such as Zwift, TrainerRoad, and TrainingPeaks. HIIT Addict brings the same clear visualization to all kinds of workouts, whether you are on the bike or off, doing HIIT, circuits, or EMOMs.
Can I use any YouTube video?
Yes, with a small distinction. Our curated YouTube workouts come with colored block visualizations already built in, because we have collected and structured the workout metadata for you. You can also save any YouTube video to the app for quick access, but only the curated ones include the pre-made visualization. For other videos, you can create the interval structure yourself in the workout editor.
Do I need an internet connection?
Yes, an internet connection is required to stream YouTube videos. Non-YouTube timer workouts can be created and used offline.
Can I build my own YouTube workouts?
Yes. You can save a YouTube video and build the interval structure for it in the workout editor. It works best for videos with clearly timed segments and, ideally, an RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion) target for each section. For the easiest experience, our curated YouTube workouts already include the metadata needed for the colored block visualization.
Is there a selection of videos to choose from?
Yes. The Discover screen has a growing selection of curated YouTube workouts, and new videos are added regularly.
Are you affiliated with GCN Training?
No. We are not affiliated with GCN Training. We curate many of their cycling videos because the intervals are clearly defined, making them an excellent fit for HIIT Addict’s color-coded visualization. Their extensive library of nearly 200 workouts also gives us plenty of great content to consider adding.
Can I suggest a video for the curated library?
Yes! Use the contact form on our homepage. Be sure the video has clear, timed sections for the best results.
Is HIIT Addict free?
Yes, the core app is free to use. Pro includes unlimited saved workouts, cross-device sync, and other advanced features.
Will regular YouTube workout videos ever feel the same after using HIIT Addict?
Probably not. Once you get used to seeing the colored block visualization, going back to a plain YouTube workout feels like flying blind. We make no apologies for spoiling the old way.
Can I use HIIT Addict without any connected devices?
Yes. Even without a smart trainer, heart rate monitor, or any other connected device, HIIT Addict works as a simple work and rest timer for any exercise you like. The big difference from a generic interval timer is the colored block visualization. You can see the entire workout structure at a glance, so you always know where you are, what is coming next, and how long you have left.
Does HIIT Addict work offline?
The app is split into two parts: timers and YouTube videos. All saved timers work fully offline.
YouTube videos themselves always need an internet connection to play, and browsing or searching the Discover screen also requires a connection.
